HARIVARASANAM

This is an Ashtakam (poem having eight stanzas) sung in front of the Lord at Sabarimala by the priest just before the closing of the Srikovil after Athazhapooja (the final pooja of a day) and Sribhootabali.

Devotees believe that Lord Ayyappa is lulled to sleep by the Harivarasanam song.

The author of this poem is Kampakudi Kulathoo Iyer. Harivarasanam is written in highly Sanskritised Malayalam

This was first sung at the Sannidhanam by Swami Vinochamandale. It is believed that daily chanting of this Ashtakam brings four-fold prosperity and fulfilment of all desires.

Though there have been many versions of this song s, the Sabarimala temple plays the rendition by K. J. Yesudas every evening after the final pooja.

Know your new born baby

The fetus develops immersed in fluid, folded up in an increasingly cramped space inside the uterus. The whole process usually culminates with the baby being pushed forcibly through a narrow, bone-walled birth canal.

Baby will come out from womb as bluish, covered with blood and cream-cheesy glop.

First few weeks, most of the time your baby will tend to keep his or her fists clenched, elbows bent, hips and knees flexed, and arms and legs held close to the front of his or her body. This position is actually similar to the fetal position during the last months of pregnancy.

First weeks, babies usually spend most of their time sleeping.

When an infant is awake, his or her breathing rate may vary widely, sometimes exceeding 60 breaths per minute, particularly when the little one is excited or following about of crying.

Newborns will also commonly have periods during which they stop breathing for about 5 to 10 seconds and then start up again on their own. This is known as periodic breathing, which is more likely to occur during sleep and is considered very normal. However, if your infant turns blue or stops breathing for longer stretches of time, contact doctor immediately.

The heads of infants born by vaginal delivery often show some degree of molding, which is when the skull bones shift and overlap, making the top of the infant's head look elongated, stretched out, or even pointed at birth. But this will go away over the next several days as the skull bones move into a more rounded configuration.

Newborns are also coated with a thick, pasty, white material (made up of the fetus' shed skin cells and skin gland secretions), most of which will be washed off during the baby's first bath.

The hue and color patterns of a young infant's skin may be startling to some parents. Mottling of the skin, a lacy pattern of small reddish and pale areas, is common because of the normal instability of the blood circulation at the skin's surface. For similar reasons, blueness of the skin of the hands and feet and the area surrounding the lips, is often present, especially if the infant is in a cool environment.

When bearing down to cry or having a bowel movement, an infant's skin temporarily may appear beet-red or bluish-purple. Red marks, scratches, bruises, or tiny specks of blood that have leaked from small blood vessels in the skin are all common on the face and other body parts. They're caused by the trauma of squeezing through the birth canal or by the pressure from obstetrical forceps used during the delivery. These will heal and disappear during the first week or two of life.

Fine, soft hair may be present on a newborn's face, shoulders, and back. Most of this hair is usually shed in the uterus before the baby is delivered; for this reason, it is more frequently seen on babies born prematurely. In any case, this hair will disappear in a few weeks.

The top layer of a newborn's skin will flake off during the first week or two. This is normal and expected and doesn't require any special skin care. Peeling skin may be present at birth in some infants, particularly those who are born past their due date.

Several harmless skin rashes and conditions may be present at birth or appear during the first few weeks. Tiny, flat, yellow or white spots on the nose and chin, are caused by the collection of secretions in skin glands and will disappear within the first few weeks

The first days and weeks of a newborn's life are a time of great wonder and delight for most new parents.

Enjoy your parenthood !!

Lovely Fatherhood

I don’t know how to explain this, proudly moment!!

Thanks to my dearest loving wife- who made this for me :) and only SHE can do this for me. Yeah, I am also a father now ..yeah hoooo!!!!. I can't believe this - it is really wonderful experience!!.

It is On 6th August 2011, Morning 3.49

This could be the same feeling my dad also got, when I came to their world

In these 9 months we realised the real pain of a parents, how much care a parents should take to get kid.

In films and all we heard many times , parents especially mom telling their kids about the story of 9 months, and we will laugh by hearing this by saying same old stupid dialog.

But it is really really right from the real heart – we should take understand it . You should experience to understand that, yeah some or other day you will realize it like me…

It is not that easy to give birth to a baby though it is natural phenomena. How much care each mother should take care. and what all dreams will they see.

Yeah we loved and enjoyed those pains which we came across as like every other parents and was eagerly waiting for our baby to come out by counting the days.

Unfortunately, I couldn't stay with my loving dear when my prince came out to this world. As like me, my prince also came out with out giving much pain and disturbing

his mother . But he was bit aggressive also, came around 20 days early than expected.

Though I know my mom and dad love me very much, now really realised what is the real depth of that love they had given and giving to me. And how much effort they took to take me to this position. What all they sacrificed in their life for me! But am I doing justice to them?, am I giving enough love and support ? Is that enough what I am giving to them?

I love you My dear mom and dad !

Makara Jothi & Makara Vilakku

First of all Makara Vilakku and Makara Jyothi are two different things.
One is the star which is worshipped, and other is symbolically lit in a place called Ponnambalamedu.
The most significant rituals of worship are performed at Makara Sankaranthi day which is every 14th of January.

Makarajyoti
It is a star which is visible from the Sabarimala Shrine and surrounding areas on the day of Makar Samkranti and its vision is considered as auspicious on that day by the devotees.

Makara Vilakku
This is man made lights lit at the time of Deeparadhana at ponnambalamedu (on the eastern horizon)

It is being lit there in commemoration of the aarathi performed first by parashurama ,Devrishis and Devas at the time of revelation of Swami Ayyappa

These celebrations were doing by tribal people every year on the Makara samkranthi day.

ie;When the makara jyothi(the star) come on the sky they were doing aarathi to God(3 times). But later on 80's tribals moved away from that place - (or they forced to moved out from there by KSEB ,police and devaswam) and later this pooja being managed and continued by these departments as the part of the belief and as the part of natural transition ritually.

Government is not ready to stop this man made aarathi b’cs they are afraid that revenue of sabarimala may go down .At least they should ready to reveal the details of this process to devotees instead of doing like this. Devotees has every right to know what exactly is happening behind the screen.
