So, Java 8 is getting ready

Java 8 is going to be released March 2014

They have an update from the Eclipse JDT team who have been getting JDT ready for Java 8. 

JavaFX will also be a big part of the release, so  e(fx)clipse project is there to make JavaFX development a smooth process. 

Finally, two articles about some key features in Java 8: 

Java Mission Control, now part of the JDK and an Eclipse RCP application and also Project Nashorn, a JavaScript engine for the JVM.
